We all have that one friend who is a complete stoner. Super dude, heart of gold, but his love of weed perhaps holds him back a little bit, robs him of ambition. Or does it? It could be that he simply has different choices and preferences to you and that he aspires to alternative things to you. The point is, he is not a bad guy and you should not try to change him and make him something that he isn’t. If he is your friend and you want to celebrate a birthday or other milestone with him, then you need to meet him where he is at and find him a gift that talks to who he is. If you are not a stoner it can be hard to know what to get. So, if that is the case, here are a few ideas to help set you on your way.
Paraphernalia
Smoking can be done in so many ways. There are different types of weed and there are different types of apparatus for smoking. Find something unique that will provide a new and different experience for your friend. Look at items like double chamber bongs for instance. Something a little unique that he will enjoy and appreciate.
A trip to where it matters
This might require a few of you to club together, but there is no reason why you shouldn’t. There are so many iconic destinations for stoners that you could pick from a long list to find one that suits your collective budget. Think Jamaica, the centre of the Rastafarian world. Or the coffee-shop culture of Amsterdam in Holland. You could try Swaziland as one of the iconic destinations where the best weed is grown. Or just a place like Colorado where marijuana is legal and can be enjoyed by anyone. Find out what takes your friend’s fancy and start planning.
Lighter
A gift with a more accessible budget is a lighter. A nice Zippo or something similar that he can use every time he lights up a spliff. Look to get it engraved with a special message – something that means a lot to both of you and hopefully he will keep it with him for the rest of his life. If he already has a special lighter you should probably take note, but if he is constantly bumming lights, or using matches or cheap plastic lighters, then the Zippo is a great option.
DIY love
If your friend is in any way inclined to try out a bit of DIY activity you might want to set him up to grow his own weed. Look online for a start-up hydroponic kit and he can produce top-grade weed in his bedroom or back garden. It is probably the sort of challenge that he would relish, and as anyone who likes to grow their own food will tell you, it always tastes better and is more enjoyable when you have produced it yourself.
